New Vertical Farm Opens in Avondale

OnePointOne, a Silicon Valley-founded company revolutionizing the future of sustainable farming, recently opened its new headquarters and flagship vertical farm in Avondale, Ariz.

Avondale officials welcomed OnePointOne with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration where special guests got to try the company’s sustainably produced, non-GMO, pesticide-free produce grown in Willo Farm, which is powered by OnePointOne’s proprietary cultivation technology.

“With our rich history of farming and agriculture, Avondale is pleased to welcome OnepointOne and Willo Farm to the City,” says Avondale Mayor Kenn Weise. “As Avondale and the West Valley continue to grow, we recognize it is increasingly important to create and preserve a sustainable local food system.”

The 80,000-square-foot facility at 855 N. 107th Ave. will serve as OnePointOne’s headquarters as well as house its 12,000-square-foot vertical farm, Willo, where the company’s cutting-edge agricultural technology comes to life.

OnePointOne’s advanced, one-of-a-kind vertical farming system is designed to maximize plant output while minimizing environmental impact. Using innovations in automation, AI, and plant science, OnePointOne produces pure produce that is 100 percent free of pesticides and herbicides in a way that maximizes plant growth rate, increases yield production, reduces energy consumption and labor costs, and ensures optimal plant quality at a molecular level.

The mission behind OnePointOne’s revolutionary farming technology is to find a sustainable solution to world hunger and nourish a growing population by maximizing the natural capabilities of plants.

“1.1 billion people entered the millennium hungry. This is a startling truth my brother and I discovered, which inspired us to create OnePointOne and Willo Farm,” says OnePointOne CEO and Cofounder Sam Bertram. “We knew we needed to do something big and impactful, so we set out on a mission to unleash the power of plants on human health to nourish and heal humanity.”

OnePointOne has created the first vertical farming platform which allows the public to get the fresh produce grown at Willo Farm delivered right to their doorsteps every two weeks. The produce is grown to order, so Willo members acquire their own personal spaces on the farm and choose which produce they want to grow and receive. They can monitor their plants’ progress at different growth stages on their phone, access chef-designed recipes, and receive personalized suggestions for what to grow next.
