Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams opens the doors to its brand new Old Town Scottsdale location Wednesday, March 1. To celebrate the launch of the brand’s first-ever Arizona shop, Jeni’s will serve free scoops of ice cream to all attendees from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the new location at 7051 E. Fifth Avenue. The first 50 people in line will receive exclusive Jeni’s swag bags in addition to complimentary ice cream.
Jeni’s founder, Jeni Britton, started making ice cream in 1996 when she decided to sprinkle cayenne pepper into a tub of rich chocolate ice cream. As soon as she did this, Jeni knew she was destined to make ice cream for the rest of her life, sparking the opening of the first Jeni’s ice cream store in Columbus, Ohio in 2002. Now, there are 23 scoop shops nationwide including the new Scottsdale location.
Jeni’s is known for its uniquely smooth texture, buttercream body and inventive flavors that you won’t find anywhere else. Ice cream flavors range from maple-soaked pancakes and gooey butter cake to powdered jelly donut and brandied banana brûlée. Dairy-free flavors, such as Texas sheet cake, dark chocolate truffle, cold brew with coconut cream and roasted peanut butter and strawberry jam, are offered at the Scottsdale location.
In honor of the Emmy Award-winning TV series “Ted Lasso” releasing a third season on March 15, Jeni’s created an exclusive themed flavor debuting March 2, one day after the grand opening. The flavor, Ted Lasso biscuits with the boss, includes crumbly shortbread cookies in salted buttered sweet cream ice cream.
Jeni’s ice cream is not new to the Scottsdale area, best-selling flavors are sold around town at grocery stores such as AJ’s Fine Foods, Whole Foods and Target. Starting March 1, the new Jeni’s ice cream shop opens from noon to 11 p.m. Sundays to Thursdays and 11 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. To view all of Jeni’s ice cream flavors, click here.
