The culinary festival season in the Valley is officially underway (get your stretchy pants ready, people). Saturday, August 31 marks the Ninth Annual Phoenix Cooks! culinary celebration at Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Phoenix Cooks! takes place on Labor Day weekend), more than 3,000 Valley foodies are expected to sample goodies from 50 of the best local chefs and restaurants. Keep an eye out for Mastro’s, Prado at the Montelucia, Different Pointe of View at Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs, Hyatt Regency at Gainey Ranch, The Buttes, deseo at Westin Kierland and many more.
To make sure your thirst is quenched throughout the one-day event, more than 30 wine, beer and mixology sampling booths will be on hand to dole out their drinks. Plus, participants can learn new recipes and techniques from the expert chefs in the culinary event’s classroom experiences and stage demonstrations.
Tickets are $60 for designated driver; $75 in advance; $90 at the door. Want to make a weekend out of it? The Westin Kierland will be providing a special Phoenix Cooks! weekend package. Proceeds from Phoenix Cooks! benefit Phoenix Children’s Hospital. www.phoenixcooks.com.
