The East Valley is about to get a taste of one of the Valley’s most celebrated modern Latin restaurants. The Mission, led by Chef and Partner Matt Carter, is expanding to Epicenter at Agritopia, bringing its award-winning cuisine, design, and hospitality to one of Gilbert’s fastest-growing destinations.

The new outpost will embody everything fans love about The Mission, from its glowing Himalayan-salt brick wall and candlelit interiors to staples like tableside Mission Guacamole, house-made tortillas, and the indulgent “Whole Roasted Pig Out” brunch. The restaurant’s agave-centric cocktail program will also make its debut in Gilbert, featuring tequila- and mezcal-forward creations that complement Latin-inspired flavors.

Designed by Mendil + Meyer, the architectural duo behind The Mission Kierland and Fat Ox, the Gilbert location will balance drama and light. A bright, enclosed front area evokes an airy patio vibe, while the main dining room and bar bring moody elegance. Guests can expect a bar with 20 seats, two high-top community tables, and a private dining room for up to 40 guests, complete with full audiovisual capabilities.

The menu will launch with The Mission’s most beloved dishes, including crispy pulled pork, Peruvian clam stew, and pork shoulder for two. Future updates will introduce exclusive dishes unique to Gilbert. The celebrated weekend brunch will also make an appearance, featuring The Mission’s signature feast and specialty cocktails crafted for leisurely weekend indulgence.

“We’re thrilled to bring The Mission to Gilbert,” Chef Carter said. “Epicenter is such a vibrant and thoughtfully curated community, and we can’t wait to share the flavors, atmosphere, and energy of The Mission with new guests while giving our longtime fans another place to enjoy the experience.”
For owners Brian Raab and Chef Carter, this marks a milestone in their culinary journey, adding to the legacy of The Mission’s Old Town Scottsdale and Kierland Commons locations, as well as their acclaimed concepts Fat Ox and Zinc Bistro. When The Mission Gilbert opens its doors this January, it will invite guests to gather, celebrate, and savor the artistry of modern Latin cuisine. Learn more at themissionaz.com.
