For the first time in about five years, Scottsdale’s beloved Perk Eatery has added dishes to its menu. In fact, this is the first time the restaurant has changed its menu since its appearance on “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.”
The bacon breakfast tacos, which have gained popularity as a special, is now a fixture on the menu. The hearty dish features corn tortillas crowned with eggs, cheddar, homemade pico de gallo, cilantro and, of course, thick-cut slices of bacon. Those who enjoy a little heat in the a.m. will also enjoy the chicken chili scramble, featuring locally made chicken jalapeno cheddar sausage.
Benedicts are also new to the menu (Florentine with ham and spinach, Country Bacon with spinach and tomato and Steak with filet medallions, mushrooms and spinach), each topped with a spin on traditional hollandaise: a delicious, should-be-sold-by-the-bottles brandy cream sauce.
For those who are more of a go-big-or-go-home type of breakfast eater, the Porky Pig Breakfast Sandwich is a whopping offering of two eggs, cheddar cheese, fresh spinach, tomato and three types of pork (bacon, chorizo, slow-roasted pork) on a soft ciabatta roll. The chipotle mayo that finishes the Porky Pig is especially tasty.
And because they say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, why not go sweet? The lemon curd and honey whipped ricotta French toast (pictured) is tangy and sweet, with fluffy pieces of bread and heap of fresh strawberries. You’ll want to share this one. And take lots of pictures of it.
To wash down all of this hearty goodness, Perk Eatery also serves up mimosa flights. (Why choose just one?) Available in a rainbow of colors, options include watermelon poblano, kiwi sencha (with green tea liquor), Hawaiian, classic mimosa, St. Tropez (with elderflower and cucumber) and Midnight Crush (with creme de cassis, ginger and rosemary).
