New Hotel Openings to Watch in 2023

With 2023 approaching, a whole new year of travel is ahead. Here are some of the most exciting hotels that are opening in the upcoming year to watch for, whether you’re looking to check off a bucket list destination or for a prestigious hospitality experience. 

Le Grand Mazarin | Paris, France

Opening early 2023

Known for its collection of chic boutique hotels in more private destinations, French hospitality group Maisons Pariente will debut their first urban property, Le Grand Mazarin, in the heart of Paris in 2023. The whimsical hotel is housed within historic buildings near the Seine in the Marais district. Its 17th century-inspired décor is complemented by modern lush textures and intricate patterns, creating an ambiance that is both true to the surrounding area and the modern traveler. Le Grand Mazarin offers the highest level of service in an intimate setting, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, 50 rooms and 11 suites, a lively bar and stunning pool. 

Bulgari Hotel Rome | Rome, Italy 

Opening 2023

Located in the central Piazza Augusto Imperatore, the new exceptional Bulgari Hotel will offer travelers a luxurious stay with over 100 rooms and serve as the Italian jewelry group’s flagship location. As with all Bulgari hotel properties, Italian architectural firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel took on both the architectural project and the design of the new hotel, which features elements of the original 1930’s building and classic Roman materials like travertine marble and red brick. The hotel will showcase a rotating collection of both modern and antique art, encapsulating the city’s renowned artistic legacy. 

Life House | Palm Springs, California 

Opening April 2023

Built in 1965, this retro 66-key property will offer guests an ideal desert escape as the first West Coast hotel of LifeHouse. Inspired by the Old Hollywood roots of the building, the concept of the Palm Springs hotel celebrates mid-century modernism by infusing Japanese minimalism and Desert Botanical muses. The hotel will include an outdoor poolside bar and lounge, cabanas, al fresco dining, an interior Living Room, and guest room suites with private terraces overlooking the mountains.

The Longfellow Hotel | Portland, Maine

Opening Summer 2023

Named after famed Portland, Maine poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, The Longfellow Hotel by Uncommon Hospitality will be a five-story, ground up building in the city’s historic West End neighborhood that will also be the first independent full-service hotel to open in Portland in 20 years. The residentially-inspired and design-forward boutique property by Post Company will feature 48 rooms, including 44 king rooms and four suites, where several rooms will boast French balconies or bay windows. Asteria, a Wellness Spa inspired by Nordic traditions will offer sauna, massage and meditation experiences, while food and beverage will be curated by local purveyors to include the Twinflower Café, serving wellness-focused breakfast and lunch offerings, and Five of Clubs, a European-style lobby bar focused on classic cocktails, local seafood and charcuterie.

Bulgari Hotel Tokyo | Tokyo, Japan

Opening Spring 2023

Bulgari Hotel Tokyo will occupy the top seven floors of a 240-meter tall ultra-skyscraper located in Tokyo’s Yaesu neighborhood near some of the city’s best attractions, including Imperial Palace. Its 98 guest rooms come in a variety of configurations, including multiple luxury suites and an extraordinary Bvlgari Suite that offers views over the city from the building’s 45th floor. The Tokyo location will feature Bulgari Hotels’ iconic features such as Il Bar, Il Ristorante, the fireplace Lounge, plus a Bulgari Spa and 25-meter indoor pool. 

Virgin Hotels Glasgow | Glasgow, Scotland

Opening March 2023

Virgin Hotel Glasgow is the second UK location of Virgin Hotels, offering 242 Chambers and Grand Chamber suites as well as waterfront views of the River Clyde. Each accommodation features Virgin’s signature design elements like bright red accents, sliding doors between living and sleeping spaces, standalone vanity desks and more. Guests will also enjoy multiple dining venues including Virgin Hotels’ flagship restaurant Commons Club, an elegant bar, a space for socializing and entertainment, a library and coffee shop. As a part of the hotel’s Grand Opening offer, guests who book a stay at Virgin Hotel Glasgow prior to January 31 will receive a complimentary bottle of Champagne. 

Virgin Hotels NYC | NoMad, New York

Opening February 2023

Located in the heart of NoMad neighborhood in one of the world’s most exciting cities, Virgin Hotels New York City will offer a contemporary and sophisticated hospitality service as well as multiple culinary destinations. Brooklyn-based design team at MARKZEFF and architecture firm Stantec designed the vibrant property in a way that seamlessly blends with the classic aesthetic of New York City, while providing modern amenities such as work and play areas and floor-to-ceiling windows in all 460 rooms and suites. The hotel features Sir Richard’s Flat, an impressive 2,800-square foot suite that occupies the hotel’s 35th and 36th floors, Everdene, a 4,000-square foot indoor/outdoor dining venue and The Pool Club, a deck and bar with exclusive lounge access against the backdrop of the Empire State Building. 

Fasano Itaim | São Paulo, Brazil

Opening April 2023

Fasano Itaim is the Brazil-based luxury hospitality brand Fasano Group’s second hotel in São Paulo. Located in the heart of the Itaim Bibi neighborhood, the hotel will give guests access to Michelin-starred restaurants, shopping centers, global office buildings and more. Aflalo/Gasperini architects and Márcio Kogan’s firm studio MK27 led the architecture and design of the hotel, which features Brazilian and international-inspired designs. Fasano Itaim will occupy a complex which includes restaurants, bars and residences, creating a lifestyle destination for guests and visitors.
