Prepare yourselves for a hotel opening guaranteed to “wow.” Come this summer, Downtown L.A. will have a new center of attention: the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown.
As the largest InterContinental hotel in the United States, the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown will reach 73 stories into the sky, making it also the tallest building west of Chicago.
And the “wow”s don’t stop there. Atop the 1,110 foot-high hotel will sit the rooftop bar — the tallest open-air bar in the Western Hemisphere. Just imagine the views of the city and the fabulous feeling of towering above all of downtown Los Angeles.
What sits below the rooftop bar is equally as impressive. The InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown will be the first LEED-Gold Certified for Building Design and Construction in downtown L.A. Inspired by the So-Cal lifestyle’s sophisticated and metropolitan vibes, the hotel will boast stunning interactive art and design features from top to bottom. Central to the design of the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown was architectural historian Reyner Banham’s book Los Angeles: The Architecture of Four Ecologies. Taking cues from that, the hotel will showcase all things L.A.
The food at the new InterContinental will also be a source of buzz. Up on the 71st floor will be a high-end French-inspired steak house with private dining rooms and hidden booths for L.A.’s famous celebs. The 69th floor will have an international restaurant that offers everything from pizza to sushi. And of course, the rooftop bar will offer up signature cocktails, great bar food and more.
And if all that wasn’t enough, the location of InterContinental L.A. will put you right in the middle of all of L.A.’s action. Within walking distance of the Staples Center, L.A. Live, and the Microsoft Theatre, you won’t miss out on any of the action the city has to offer, though we are confident that most of the action will be taking place right there in the new InterContinental!
