As if we need another excuse for an escape south of the border, the luxurious Fairmont Mayakoba has recently unveiled two new onsite restaurants that are as delicious as they are beautiful.

First up is Tauro—a brand-new fine dining steakhouse that promises the coldest martini in the Riviera Maya. Inspired by the strength and mythology of the animal behind the name, Tauro elegantly combines Mexican ingredients with classic American steakhouse techniques and recipes in a sophisticated atmosphere. The steakhouse features an in-house dry-aging program, raw bar, prime cuts, as well as a two-course all-inclusive menu option. And while meat is the focus, veggies aren’t forgotten; from seasonal wild mushrooms and potato mousseline to a fresh spinach and kale salad with granny smith apples, only the finest quality ingredients are used to create stand-out dishes across the menu.

Feel like you’re in the heart of the jungle at the recently revamped Hix Bar & Lobby Lounge, which is situated among a luscious mangrove where exotic wildlife, like monkeys, parrots, coatis and more, can be spotted from the expansive terrace. The Mexican hacienda-inspired decor features a high, beam-lined pitch-roof ceiling, wrought-iron chandeliers and white-washed walls for a clean yet intimate feel. Enjoy a mouthwatering assemblage of small-bite bar snacks, like made-to-order sushi, poke bowls, tacos, wings and sliders, over creative locally-inspired cocktails.

Nestled within a private gated resort community in the heart of Mexico’s acclaimed Riviera Maya, Fairmont Mayakoba is surrounded by 240 hectares of lush tropical forest that hugs the pristine Caribbean shoreline.
