Kimpton The Rowan Palm Springs is welcoming guests back safely with a healthy dose of wanderlust, al fresco dining on the rooftop (the city’s only rooftop deck and restaurant), and plenty to see, eat, and do while practicing social distancing.

When to go: Thanksgiving or Christmas holidays. The Rowan is hosting special rooftop dining events Thursday, November 26 from 1-7 p.m. and Thursday, December 24 from 5-9 p.m. featuring a three-course, prix fixe menu for $75 per person. Dining reservations available on OpenTable.

Stay: The Rowan is a desert retreat that embodies a sunny mix of minimalist, modern-desert urbanity with contemporary design and the city’s only rooftop pool. With its prime location anchoring the very center of downtown Palm Springs, the 153-room hotel is perfect for the modern explorer and offers idyllic views of the San Jacinto Mountains and desert landscape. The Rowan is currently operating at 50% capacity and has implemented additional measures to help safeguard guest and team members’ health. More on the hotel’s health & safety protocols.

See: Check out the public art in downtown Palm Springs like the new PS I<3U Instagrammable stop; Julian Voss-Andreae’s “Isabelle,” a polished stainless steel sculpture with surprising views from every angle; “Babies” by artist David Cerny illuminated by Jev Pic’s “The Faultline Meditation” light installation in the Palm Springs Art Pit behind The Rowan; and Collette Miller’s rainbow angel wings mural, Miller’s ode to world peace.

Eat: “Dinner Under the Stars” at The Rowan is an elevated rooftop dining experience (literally at 7 stories up) presented by Executive Chef Dan Grunbeck. Every Wednesday evening through March 2021 (in addition to Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve), the rooftop space will be transformed into an outdoor dining event—lounge chairs and pool furniture removed—with a three-course, prix fixe menu and tables safely distanced apart. For a taste of Italy and a great happy hour, head to Il Corso Palm Springs, just steps away from The Rowan.
