Off to the Races: Equestrian-Themed Bachelorette Getaways

If Vegas is a little too been-there-done-that for your bachelorette bash, then you’re probably itching for somewhere different for your final fling. Whether you’re the one doing the planning or the only one donning white, round up your girls and consider saddling up at one of these three getaways.

The Seaside Racetrack

Live like old Hollywood glamour at the Del Mar Racetrack, just 20 miles from downtown San Diego. The seaside racetrack is home to one of the West Coast’s longest running traditions and the hangout site of many Hollywood names. Don your largest hats while sipping cocktails and sitting pretty. Races run from July 18 through Labor Day and followed up by a second season in November.

Where to stay: The new Pendry Hotel is a chic, urban escape in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter, surrounded by nightlife, dining, shopping and more. A picture-perfect rooftop pool is surrounded by white-hot cabanas and a full-service spa is available for a relaxing day. Not to mention the hotel is home to the very first Moët & Chandon Champagne Vending Machine in Southern California. Book the Sip & Stay package and receive two complimentary gold coins to redeem in the machine. Cheers!

The Wild West

If the Wild West is more your style, Tucson’s Tanque Verde Ranch will let you get down and dirty. The authentic 150-year old guest ranch is one of America’s originals, with a fully immersive dude ranch experience. The ranch is home to more than 150 horses for lessons and rides along with riding trails through mountains and desert. Other activities include hiking, yoga, Jeep adventures and more.

Where to stay: Tanque Verde Ranch is not only home to horses and hiking, it also has a variety of lodging options, decked out in Southwestern style and Santa Fe-style decor and complete with views. There are also four tennis courts, several pools and a variety of dining outlets. May we suggest the signature Prickly Pear Margarita at the Dog House Saloon to top off your day.

The American Riviera

Grab your girls and celebrate your final fling, Pretty Woman style at the historic Santa Barbara Polo Fields. Post up in the polo lounge while sipping fine wines and enjoying beer tastings. Top it off with the famous mid-game divot stomp a la Pretty Woman. Matches take place on Sundays from May through October. For the ultimate experience, visit during the Belmond El Encanto Robert Skene Trophy held July 15-22.

Where to stay: Perched above the city in the Santa Barbara hills, the Belmond El Encanto offers some of the best views of the American Riviera. Accommodations include quaint bungalows with California craftsman style and it’s conveniently located near Santa Barbara’s Urban Wine Trail and just 30 minute from Santa Ynez Valley, home to more than 270 wineries.
