JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Unveils $24M Spa Transformation

JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa has announced a $24 million transformation of The Spa at Camelback Inn, set to debut in January 2026 and ushering in a brazen new era of luxury wellness in the Sonoran Desert.

The extensive renovation will redefine the guest experience at one of Arizona’s most celebrated wellness destinations, originally opened in 1989 as the Southwest’s largest resort spa. According to General Manager Richard Romane, the revitalization reflects a balance between honoring the spa’s legacy and embracing modern, personalized well-being.

“The transformation represents a new era for our landmark resort, reaffirming our dedication to providing an unparalleled guest and wellness experience,” Romane said. “With respect for our heritage and a vision for the future, we are thrilled to reimagine this iconic space and welcome guests to a completely revitalized sanctuary of well-being.”

The spa will embrace the ariVéa philosophy, which aligns the desert’s natural energy with each guest’s unique journey toward holistic health. This approach is grounded in six wellness principles: the power of nature, timeless traditions, the preciousness of water, personalization, intention, and stillness. These themes will inform everything from the architecture and treatments to sound, scent, and culinary elements.

Desert-Inspired Design

Renowned design firm EDG is leading the redesign of the 32,000-square-foot spa. While the size remains unchanged, every detail—inside and out—will be reimagined. Featuring 20 treatment rooms (including three double suites), the spa will reflect the serene palette of the desert, using natural materials and calming tones to create an inviting retreat. Separate locker rooms will anchor each wellness journey.

Bespoke sensory experiences will be central to the design, including curated soundscapes and signature scents. A highlight is The Sanctuary, an expansive relaxation space with panoramic views of Camelback, and The Stillness Lounge, a meditative space featuring Mind-Sync Harmonic Wellness Loungers, eye masks, weighted blankets, and noise-canceling headphones for immersive stress relief.

Innovative Wellness Circuits & Outdoor Waters

Guests will find a new indoor Wellness Circuit by Bradford Wellness, which includes a Himalayan salt sauna, aromatherapy steam cavern, and cold therapy options like a mist tunnel, cold air zone, and bucket showers. A sunlit solarium will house an 18-person hot tub, while the outdoor Wellness Waters area will feature three hydrotherapy pools: The Flow (main pool), The Still (salt pool), and The Chill (cold plunge).

Private cabanas will be available for reservation, and a luxurious villa will offer a secluded retreat with a pool, treatment suite, and private lounge area for up to 10 guests.

Spa & Fitness Offerings

The new spa menu will blend advanced techniques with indigenous desert ingredients such as adobe clay, prickly pear, agave nectar oil, and juniper and sage oils. Longtime favorites like the Ayurvedic-inspired Bindi Treatment and Vichy showers will return, alongside cutting-edge treatments like gua sha facials with LED therapy and microcurrent enhancements.

Guests can check out expert-led yoga, sound baths, mindfulness workshops, and a state-of-the-art 24-hour Fitness Center equipped with TechnoGym machines, Peloton bikes, and personalized training sessions.

Holistic Dining at Ora Café

New to the spa is Ora Café, a social wellness hub featuring an open kitchen, banquette seating, and shaded outdoor dining beneath the desert’s natural tree canopy. The all-day menu was developed with a licensed nutritionist and combines indulgence with nourishment, offering dishes and craft beverages tailored to wellness needs.
