Troon North Golf Club’s Renovated Monument Course Now Open

Troon North Golf Club’s Monument course has reopened for daily-fee play after a four-month enhancement project and marks the first major renovation of the course since 2007. The award-winning course is located in Scottsdale, along with Troon North Golf Club’s Tom Weiskopf-designed Pinnacle.

According to the press release, course enhancements included updating green complexes to their original shape, size and contours by utilizing GPS coordinates gathered from Weiskopf’s original design. In addition, greens were resurfaced with creeping A4 bent grass and collars were resurfaced with TifGrand semi-dwarf Bermuda grass. Bunker renovations included updating the drainage in all greenside and fairway bunkers, new bunker liners and new Pioneer bunker sand. Troon’s Vice President of Golf Course Development Ron Despain oversaw the project and work was performed by the club’s agronomy team led by Senior Agronomist Brad Anderson.

“The green and bunker changes on Monument have further elevated an already tremendous golf course,” says Mitch Harrell, president of Troon Golf, in a press release. “By proactively improving and reinvesting, we are wholly committed to maintaining Troon North’s standing as one of the top daily-fee facilities in the world. To that end, we will be executing a similar improvement project on the Pinnacle course during the summer of 2018.”
