Scottsdale is Among the Top Cities for Sustainability Startup Funding, Report

Over 120,000 startups across the U.S. work in an industry under the umbrella of sustainability. These include recycling and pollution reduction, renewable energy, environmental engineering, green consumer good and environmental consulting. In total, these sustainability-driven startups have raised at least $134 billion in funding, according to Crunchbase.

A new data-backed analysis by PromoLeaf identified which U.S. cities are home to the most startups in sustainability and which are leading the way in funding efforts. Scottsdale ranked #7 amongst cities for sustainability startup funding, where the average funding raised by sustainability startups is $91.6M.

Per 100,000 residents, there are a total of 16.5 sustainability startups in Scottsdale, which include 8.7 renewable energy startups, 5.4 environmental engineering startups, 5 recycling and pollution control startups, and 2.1 environment consulting and consumer goods startups. 

As a whole, Arizona features 4.6 sustainability startups per 100,000 residents, where big cities like Tempe, Tucson and Phoenix have a total of 24.3, 9.6 and 6.5 startups per 100,000 residents, respectively.
