Finding the Best Lender in 2020

Having a great lender on your side makes your entire experience so much easier. The most important people in your real estate transaction is going to be your agent and your loan broker.

If you come to the realization that it is time to buy a home, the first thing you should do is find a lender you can trust. Anytime I talk with new clients or referrals, one of the first couple of questions I ask is whether they have been pre-qualified or pre-approved by a lender.

There’s a difference between pre-qualification and pre-approval. These terms get thrown around a lot, and they are not the same. Between the two, pre-approval is better. Pre-qualification is like telling a loan officer about your financial situation over the phone to see whether things jive with what you are trying to accomplish. Pre-approval is a full-blown credit check with verification of your assets and income.

The best lenders are the ones that you are referred to by either a friend or your agent. They will be able to give you the best options. Some lenders even have partnerships with real estate agents and brokerages. It is best to have your lender and loan process started before even looking at homes. It can be a fast process once you have your agent submit an offer on your behalf. I have closed on homes for my clients in less than 21 days, so having everything ready to go prevents any delays. The other thing you need to be careful with is if you make an offer on a home you will need to put down an earnest deposit. If you end up not getting approved for a loan, you risk losing that money you put down.
