Best of Our Valley Spotlight: Randi Dorman, ‘Most Influential Woman in Tucson’

For over the past 20 years, we’ve celebrated the Valley’s best. From the top businesses and professionals to the people who make it all happen, Arizona Foothills Magazine’s annual Best of Our Valley contest recognizes Arizona’s crème de la crème across more than 400 categories. From the best doctors and best resort down to the best cup of coffee you can find around town, each Best of titleholder is chosen by those who know the city best – our readers.

Each week, we’ll be highlighting individual winners from Best of Our Valley 2018, who share their advice, insights and thoughts on what it means to be a part of this exclusive list.

The Best of spotlight is on Randi Dorman of R+R Develop, who snagged Most Influential Woman in Tucson. Congrats, Randi!

AFM: In a brief 2-3 sentences, please tell us a little bit about you —
I moved from Manhattan to Downtown Tucson 16 years ago and very quickly got involved in downtown revitalization and the arts here – two things I feel greatly impact the quality of life and the economy of Tucson. My husband and I do real estate development with a focus on doing innovative projects in Downtown Tucson, and when I lived in NY I was a global branding specialist.  We have a 14 year old daughter who is the light of my life.

AFM: What does it mean to you to be a Best of Our Valley winner?
I am very honored and humbled to be a two-time Best of Our Valley winner.  There is so much that can be done to make our communities better and better, and I am grateful that people feel I am having impact.

AFM: In your opinion, what is the best part about being the winner for Most Influential Woman in Tucson?
It frames for people that I am not messing around; I am here to make things happen and welcome them to join me.

AFM: Have you seen any benefits as a result of being a BOOV winner?
My daughter loves telling her friends about it and it made for fun conversation at my 30th reunion at Penn!

AFM: How do you put your “best” foot forward every day?
When I wake up in the morning I take a moment of gratitude for the wonderful life I have, and to reflect on what I’d like to accomplish that day.  I have a bracelet with the word “impact” engraved on it to remind me of what I need to do.  And we have a family philosophy we call FGH – Fabulousness, Gratitude and Humor.  If you conduct yourself with those three things in mind you can’t go wrong.
