2026 Subaru Forester Wilderness: Rugged Charm for Roads and Trails

I spent a week behind the wheel of the 2026 Subaru Forester Wilderness, and it felt like catching up with an old friend—in the best way possible. I’ve logged plenty of time driving Subarus over the years, both personally and through testing, and they’ve always delivered. This one is no exception.
From the moment I got in, it had that familiar Subaru confidence: solid, comfortable, and ready for whatever the road—or lack of road—throws at it. The Wilderness trim adds a rugged personality that really stands out. Whether I was commuting through the city or taking a quick detour onto rougher terrain, it handled everything effortlessly. It’s the kind of vehicle that makes you feel like you could go anywhere, even if you’re just heading to the grocery store.
One thing that never seems to change is how often people comment on it. I had multiple folks mention how sharp it looked, and I get it—the styling strikes a great balance between tough and refined. It turns heads without trying too hard.
Inside, it’s practical and comfortable, with plenty of space for passengers or gear. Everything is laid out in a way that just makes sense, which is something Subaru consistently gets right. It’s easy to settle in and enjoy the drive, whether it’s a short trip or a longer haul.
After a week with the Forester Wilderness, I’m reminded why I keep coming back to Subaru. They’re reliable, capable, and thoughtfully designed. I’d absolutely continue to buy them, and I always look forward to any opportunity to test one again.
