2023 Toyota Venza XLE Nightshade

The Toyota Venza could best be described as a much better dressed RAV4 Hybrid. It’s far more stylish and sharply designed than the RAV4 from which it is based. Using the same 4-cylinder hybrid powertrain, you get standard all-wheel drive and fuel economy that V-6 powered rivals could only dream of. Unfortunately, its heavy RAV4 underpinnings can mean that space and practicality are compromised.

As already mentioned, from the outside, the 2023 Toyota Venza boasts sharp lines and a handsome profile. On the inside, impressive features abound. Most notably is the optional panoramic sunroof, designed with electrochromic glass to seamlessly shift from opaque to transparent with the simple touch of a button. Exciting options like these, combined with a nicely styled cabin, won’t completely make up for the small cargo area in the back and overall tighter interior compared to many other two-row SUV crossovers, but it doesn’t hurt either.

The biggest change we see for 2023 is the introduction of the Nightshade model. This package darkens up the overall presentation by adding 19” gloss-black alloy wheels, a black acrylic front grille with smoked chrome-finished accents, lower moldings and black front and rear lower bumper garnishes. Mirror caps and door handles are also sprayed black. The effect is striking, giving the Toyota Venza a more menacing tone.

The XLE model I enjoyed some time in easily represents the best bang for your buck, as you get front and rear parking sensors, keyless entry and bigger, flashier wheels for just a little more pocket change. Thanks to the Nightshade Edition, the already good looking Venza has never looked better. With excellent fuel economy, Toyota’s trusted reputation for reliability and standard all-wheel drive, it’s undeniably an attractive package.
