Golden Globes Best Dressed

Penelope Cruz

I admit after being one hundred percent excited to watch my fave celebrities walk the red carpet en route to the Golden Globes, but thanks to gray skies and photo shoot delays I completely missed it. But thankfully I was able to catch the show in it’s entirety in reruns.

Kate Hudson

You see in California that show starts so darn early that it’s rerun immediately following the live telecast. In any case, on to more important things like…hello dresses and makeup and hair, oh my! At the top of my list Kate Hudson in her showstopping white gown. She was an absolute vision, perfect hair, perfect makeup and in the tradition of complete Hollywood glamour that amazing strapless number. Though I wrestled with what often looked like pieces of coral on her should and hip I still loved Drew Barrymore’s tan beaded dress and I thought she looked magnificent. I loved her look last year at the Globes and the Oscars and was as happy as always that Drew never shys away from doing a different look each show…unlike some (yawn Jennifer Aniston) other actresses.

Drew Barrymore

I also have to mention the uber-classy Helen Mirren…can I just say w-o-w! Her dress fit like a glove and was about as age appropriate as possible while still being stunning. while I’m on that note both Helen and Meryl’s makeup look sensational, fresh, pretty and just the right amount of color without going overboard. And let’s give it up for Jody Foster who’s black strapless number still maintained both edge and elegance. As always Ms. Foster knows exactly what works for her and she never strays.

Penelope Cruz

I must admit there were so many wonderful dresses this year that this subject may stretch into a few days. A return to color was surely welcome like Jane Krakowsky and Sandra Bullocks purple gowns, Maggie Gyllenhall’s peach organza gown, Cameron Diaz red satin and Diane Krugers pink confection. Penelope Cruz’ black lace dress was divine, though who could keep their eyes on Ms Cruz’ dress…that hair, that makeup and that gorgeous tan..my gosh did she hit the genetic jackpot or what?

Emily Blunt

Emily Blunt and Marion Cotillard both looked incredible as well, and I love Emily Blunts matching diamond cuffs.

Marion Cotillard

These days with all the pre-awards dermatologist visits, hair and makeup teams and stylists running around making everyone look paparazzi ready it’s hard to believe that anyone actually flubs up on their look…but we all know there were a few that didn’t quite cut it which we’ll delve into tomorrow but for now I can rest peacefully having experienced another smashing year of the Globes.
