Best Dressed Oscars 2011

After a wonderful weekend in Los Angeles spending time with some of the top makeup artists in the world, I flew home last night to catch as much of the Academy Awards as possible.

I adore Anne Hathaway and James Franco so, I was looking forward to seeing the banter between them. Unfortunately, even though the pair are two of the brightest actors of their generation I thought some of the writing for them was somewhat dismal. In any case they both looked amazing and how incredible were the 8 gowns that Anne wore?. My favorite was the royal blue number that looked like liquid.

This year there were so many amazing gowns that I can barely get them all in over two to three days, let alone in one post. The reds were out in full force as seen on Jennifer Hudson and Jennifer Lawrence both who looked smashing. The shimmering beige and nude dresses were also a hit..

One of my absolute favorite gowns of the evening was Sandra Bullock, last years Best Actress winner in a fiery red Vera Wang dress. The dress fit her like a glove and the silhouette was cut to perfection. And who can resist Sandra’s tongue in cheek sense of humor when presenting the Best Actor award delivered with complete ease…not as all as if she was reading off a prompter.

I also loved Mila Kunis in the lace lavender Ellie Saab gown. At first I thought it a tad riske’ being so sheer and low cut, but Kunis once again gets a nod from me for always pulling it together head to toe with such ease. For someone that has been thrust upon the red carpet such a short time ago she never ceases to amaze every awards show she is not only age appropriate, but chooses pieces that flatter not overwhelm.

Gwyneth Paltrow looked stunning in the metallic Calvin Klein low cut number. She looked sunny, sexy and fresh as always… an enviable combination. And for her Country Strong serenade moment she donned another metallic gown this time in gold. Really is there anything this women does not look good in?

I also thought Hailee Steinfeld looked incredible in her Marchesa gown. Thus far this girl has an incredible team around her because she always looks age appropriate but perfectly put together, from the gowns, to the hair and the makeup…flawless!
