“Hungry Girl: 200 Under 200”

Valley Girl meet Hungry Girl!

Now you can have your cake and eat it too with Lisa Lillien’s new book – Hungry Girl: 200 under 200 which includes 200 delicious recipes all under 200 calories! Lillien, the girl who loves to eat, is the founder of Hungry-Girl.com and author of Hungry Girl: Recipes and Survival Strategies for Guilt-Free Eating in the Real World. This New York Times Bestseller and online hit is not a nutritionist nor a doctor, she’s just an average female who, like all of us, wants to be skinny while enjoying the pleasures of eating great food guilt-free.

Lillien considers herself a “foodologist” not because she has some impressive degree, but because food is her passion and “lifelong obsession.” And because she has struggled with her weight for most of her life, she has accumulated countless diet and food tips that allow her to satisfy her cravings while making smart and healthy decisions. In 2003, she started a free daily email subscriber service for eating tips and diet news to about 100 of her friends. Well today those emails go to more than 650,000 subscribers.

Lillien tried every diet you can think of and still managed to fluctuate in her weight within about 20 pounds. It wasn’t until she gave up dry carbs (flour, bread, pasta and starches) and started drinking 14 glasses of water a day for a full year that she dropped almost 30 pounds and three sizes. Now she follows the Weight Watchers point system, which she includes aside every recipe in her new book, and rarely eats those pesky dry carbs.

If you think this is a book filled with healthy salads and lean cuisines, think again. “Hungry Girl: 200 Under 200” features main dishes like “Totally Pumpin’ Fettuccine” to sweet desserts like “Death By Chocolate Cone Cakes,” to tasty dips like “Not-So-Secret BBQ Sauce.” As you can tell, she likes to jazz up her recipes with pizzazz and humor to make your cooking (and eating) experience fun and enjoyable. Not to mention, she strives to keep her recipes not just low in calories (<200) but also low in fat and high in fiber.

  1. I’ve totally flipped through her first book a million times at Target. It really does have great recipes and not really health food ones, just ways to make guilty recipes more innocent!

  2. Jesse – dry carbs are not in many of the recipes – I guess she gave them up for a year! That is the hardest part for me I love carbs.

  3. It’s easy to make your own healthy and downlike homemade Denny’s griddlecakes with this easy-to-follow Denny’s battercake recipe with healthy ingredients, such as Graham and Canola, served with a dollop of cream cheese and arrant maple syrup or beloved , or create your own healthy pancake toppings.
