24 Carrots Natural Café and Urban Juicery in Chandler celebrates six years in business with a special celebration Friday, May 23 and Saturday, May 24. On Wednesday, May 28, Chef Kevin Binkley will team up with Farmer Pat Duncan for Duncan’s Trading Co.’s for the spring “Farmer in the House” dinner series. The six-course dinner is $96 per person, with the option of additional wine pairings for $50. The event will showcase exotic fruits and vegetables from Duncan’s boutique, organic farm. Dinner commences at 7 p.m. with passed hors d’oeuvres starting at 6:30 p.m. at Binkley’s Restaurant in Cave Creek. A portion of the dinner proceeds will go to the Association of Arizona Food Banks. At least your taste buds can during the first dinner of the summer “Taste Talavera” series on Friday, May 30, pairing Chef de Cuisine Masa Shimakawa of ONYX at Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village, California, with Executive Chef Mel Mecinas, of Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North. Travel to the Far East with a traditional Izakaya and enjoy a menu of inventive Japanese fare, paired with wines and Japanese whiskey. RA Sushi is hosting its 10th Annual “Nicky’s Week” fundraiser from Sunday, May 25 through Saturday, May 31, to help kids battling cancer and other deadly diseases. During Nicky’s Week, all 25 RA Sushi locations will donate 100 percent of sales from of a variety of menu items and beverages to St. Jude to help support the hospital’s lifesaving mission.
Tempe-based Tilted Kilt is bringing back its “Here’s to the Heroes” fundraiser this Memorial Day. Beginning Monday, May 26, people can make a donation in exchange for customizable paper dog tags for $1 or $5 that will be displayed on their pub walls. The promotion goes through July 4. Proceeds go to the Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides post-secondary educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving our nation.
