Foodie news roundup for the week of Jan. 26.
From 6 to 9 p.m. tonight, head to Sands at Hotel Valley Ho for the Gridiron Chef event, benefiting the Pat Tillman Foundation. Chefs Beau MacMillan, Aaron May, Gregory Weiner and Charles Wiley are expected to take part in the interactive, high-energy event as well as Sam and Christina Ponder and more. Through Feb. 8, Hopdoddy is dishing up the Ranch Hand Dan Burger for $9. The burger is smothered with melted Swiss cheese atop a house ground chicken patty, caramelized onions, mushrooms and three strips of apple-smoked bacon with ranch dressing slathered on both sides of the fresh-baked egg bun.
Just in time for Super Bowl Sunday, SanTan Brewing Company’s most popular seasonal beer, Mr. Pineapple Wheat Beer (pictured) is set to hit shelves in February. It is now available at SanTan’s Chandler-based brewpub and will be available in cans and on tap throughout Arizona, Southern California and Texas in February.
On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights, Pink Pony in Scottsdale is now offering fab specials, like $10 burger and beer on Tuesdays and 50 perfect off bottles of wine up to $100 on Wednesdays.
Firehouse cooks and restaurant chefs throughout the Valley are set to take part in the 6 Alarm Cookoff at Allstate Appliance Scottsdale Showroom, Feb. 7 from 6 to 10 p.m., in an effort to raise funds for the 100 Club of Arizona. Attendees will enjoy a host of dishes from local restaurants that will tempt the taste buds with fare ranging from light appetizers to signature dishes, all of which include a variety of accompanying spirits.
