Beware the Full Moon as Dracula Invades Phoenix Theater Scene

The creators behind Drunk Shakespeare are raising the stakes this season with their newest theatrical experience: Drunk Dracula. Debuting in October, the production is a laugh-out-loud reimagining of Bram Stoker’s classic tale – except one actor gets drunk and the rest try to keep the story on track.

“There’s no better way to kick off the Halloween season than with history’s most famous vampire,” said David Hudson, co-creator of Drunk Shakespeare. “The society is excited to pay homage to the original drinker and continue bringing our brand of mayhem to the spooky season here in Phoenix.”

After centuries confined to his creepy Transylvanian castle, Dracula is back and thirstier than ever. In this gothic-meets-comedy twist, the Count is on the prowl in the Valley of the Sun, determined to reclaim his youthful charm and chiseled good looks. Drunk Dracula promises to be more outrageous than a Twilight marathon, as audiences are invited to raise a glass and laugh along while the most infamous vampire in literary history tries to find fresh victims—or maybe just a great cocktail.

“Will you be his next victim, or will you stake your claim as the one who got away?” teases the show’s creators. “Prepare for a spooky night of booze-infused laughs… and maybe even a bit of necking.”

In honor of National Bat Month, the production is also offering a signature drink called the “Bat’s Brew,” a rum-based cocktail designed to give back. For every Bat’s Brew sold, $2 will be donated to AZ Bat Rescue, Arizona’s only dedicated bat rescue nonprofit.

Founded by Hally Cokenias and her husband, AZ Bat Rescue operates as a 501(c)(3), relying entirely on donations to care for these often-misunderstood creatures. Arizona is home to more species of bats than any state except Texas, yet the number of licensed bat rehabbers in the state remains under five. This initiative gives audience members a way to enjoy their night out while supporting vital conservation work.

Craft cocktails and snacks will be available for purchase throughout each performance. For those looking to elevate their evening, Drunk Dracula also offers a “Royal Experience for Two” at each show. This decadent package includes VIP throne seating, a bottle of champagne, two hand-crafted cocktails, premium treats, and a chance to influence the performance as the Count and Countess of the night.

Drunk Dracula will take the stage at The Rose Theatre in downtown Phoenix, located at 455 N 3rd Street, with performances running from October 1 through November 9. Shows are strictly 21 and over, with each running approximately 90 minutes. Learn more at drunkdracula.com.
