We’re supposed to learn something new every day, right? Well, that concept is much more appealing when the words “cocktail,” “freshly made,” “libations” and “beverage” come into play. Scottsdale’s renown JW Marriott Camelback Inn Resort & Spa as introduced a new offering for both guests and non-guests: a brand new cocktail class.
The cocktail class commences with a a tour of the Scottsdale resort’s organic herb gardens with one of the resort’s resident horticulturalists, followed by a cocktail class with one of the resort’s talented mixologists. During the hands-on cocktail class, guests will pick their own herbs and incorporate them into a freshly-made cocktail. The concept of using fresh-picked ingredients certainly isn’t a new one a Camelback Inn; Camelback’s food and beverage staff creates specialty cocktails using these fresh herbs on a daily basis, including a Desert Garden Martini with fresh cilantro, tomato juice, cucumber and habanero; a Pink Serenity Cocktail with fresh thyme, watermelon and lime; and an R’Mojito with fresh thyme, strawberry and lime.
Camelback Inn’s new herb garden tour/cocktail class will highlight Camelback Inn’s wide variety of desert botanicals and organic herbs, as well as the resort’s top-notch beverage program, which is led by beverage director Trudy Thomas, who has worked with the likes of Wolfgang Puck. Guests will walk away with an understanding of desert botanicals and tips for how to create the cocktails on their own; participants will also get to take away a seed packet for re-creating the herb-infused libations at home, to boot. The classes will be offered free of charge for Camelback Inn guests, and $25 per person for non-guests.
