Looking to make some delicious weekend plans? Well, on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., The United Phoenix Firefighters Association is hosting the 3rd Annual Firefighters Chili Challenge. A total of 30 teams (made up of Valley firefighters and local chefs) will compete for the title of King or Queen of Chili. Celebrity judges will decide who makes the best chili and the most creative booth. A people’s choice award will be given out after the judging has finished. All of the proceeds will go to United Phoenix Firefighters and local food banks.
In addition to all-you-can-eat samples of chili, guests are also able to enjoy live music and plenty of other food and drinks (at an additional cost). There will be a kid’s play area on-site as well. Admission is $10 or free for children under 12. The chili cookoff will be held in Downtown Phoenix, on Washington between 1st and 4th Avenues (light rail stop right at front entrance). http://www.firefighterschilichallenge.com/.
