Whether you are its biggest fan or dread its arrival every June (technically–more like late April in Arizona), summer is nearly here and W Scottsdale’s Sushi Roku is making the best of it with its Summer Has Arrived Kickoff Party this weekend and the addition of cool summer dining specials. On Sunday, May 22, the Summer Has Arrived Kickoff Party will entail a Beach Bunny Swimwear fashion show, a $500 swimsuit giveaway, DJ Nameless and–of course–Sushi Roku’s latest and greatest summer specials, like sake snow cones (yes, please!), special sashimi combos and a three-course Locals-Only Summer Menu for a cool $25. While the party takes place Sunday at 6 p.m., the specials will be available May 22 through Sept. 5.
First and foremost, Sushi Roku is offering several kōri specials (“kōri” is Japanese for “ice”), starting with sake snow cones. Flavors include green tea, strawberry, ginger sake, pomegranate and watermelon. Other icy specials include sashimi combos available for $16 each and features fresh fish atop a bowl of ice. Combos include Suzuki Kōri, seabass sashimi with lemon vinaigrette; Halibut Kōri, halibut sashimi with ume dressing; and Tai Kōri, red snapper sashimi with sumiso vinaigrette and jalapeno. Lastly, if you’re craving a few courses, Sushi Roku’s Locals-Only Summer Menu is sure to please. Available for lunch or dinner, guests can enjoy a three-course culinary tour through Japan for $25 per person. Choices include red snapper “Usuzukuri” with Hawaiian sea salt, miso-eggplant dengaku, baked crab handrolls, organic garden salad, vegetable tempura and free-range chicken with sautéed mushrooms and mashed potatoes. 480.970.2121, http://www.sushiroku.com/.
