Bad news, sushi lovers. Longtime Phoenix favorite and sushi spot, Zen 32, is will close its doors next week on Aug. 31, adding to the far-too-long list of restaurant closures in the past 32. Zen 32, near Camelback and 32nd, opened in 1996 and has become known for its “Sushi ‘til Midnite.” Lenny Rosenberg, founder of Zen 32 and the man who launched 5 & Diner, Chaps, Blue Burrito Grille, Delux and Revo Burrito, plans to focus on Zen 32’s strip-mall siblings, Revo Burrito and Delux. “I have enjoyed serving my loyal customers ‘Sushi ‘til Midnite’ and I want to thank them for their support over the last 14 years. Due to the fact that the remodel costs have far exceeded the original budget, it did not make economic sense to go forward with the major renovations. I will now devote all my time to expand Delux and Revo Burrito. The limited menu and fast casual concepts that I have developed with Delux and Revo Burrito are better suited for multi-unit expansion,” says Rosenberg.
