Though most families will be sitting down for a big meal during Thanksgiving next week, 19.1 percent of Arizonans are living in food insecurity and 29.9 percent of Arizonan children facing hunger. So this holiday season, SASSI of North Scottsdale partners with St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance to help fight hunger locally. “This holiday season Sassi will host thousands of guests sharing in the spirit of this special time of year with friends and family,” says Sassi general manager, Stephen Plunkett. “By creating this special dish and partnering with St. Mary’s Food Bank we can make a difference in making sure no Arizonan goes hungry this holiday season.”
Throughout the month of December, proceeds from a special holiday dish created by Sassi’s Executive Chef Chris Nicosia will benefit St. Mary’s Food Bank. SASSI and St. Mary’s will also host a special holiday fundraiser dinner with St. Mary’s on Dec. 11. In order to help St. Mary’s in their cause of fighting hunger in Arizona, Sassi will be donating $5 of every order of Butternut Squash Risotto to St. Mary’s throughout the month of December. (With just $25, St. Mary’s is able to provide 175 people with meals.)
Sassi will also be hosting a special holiday fundraiser dinner on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. in conjunction with St. Mary’s. This holiday event will feature a buffet of lasagne, salad, gelato, cookies, and beverages with proceeds going towards St. Mary’s Food Bank. St. Mary’s staff will also stand in as honorary servers to thank the community. Guests are also encouraged to bring a bag of non-perishable food to be donated to St. Mary’s. www.sassi.biz.
