Bounce looked at some of the most popular hotel brands in the world and ranked them based on average user ratings, popularity, availability, revenue and the number of five-star locations. The luggage storage company created a list of the most and least successful hotel chains, the best and worst reviewed chains, the most in demand and the most luxurious. 

Most Successful Hotel Chains in the World

  1. Hilton Hotels and Resorts 
  2. Holiday Inn
  3. Four Seasons

Hilton Hotels and Resorts is the most successful hotel chain in the world, according to the report, due to its popularity, availability, revenue and ratings. With a total of 584 locations across 124 countries, the chain can be found in most popular vacation destinations. Hilton Hotels and Resorts also receives one of the highest volume of Google searches, with 8.75 million searches in the last 12 months. There are seven five-star properties, including Hilton Luxor Resort and Spa in Egypt and the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. 

Least Successful Hotel Chains in the World

  1. Park Plaza Hotels 
  2. Econo Lodge 
  3. Raffles Hotels

Park Plaza Hotels and Resorts is an upscale hotel chain owned by the Radisson Hotel Group. This hotel group received a low score due to its limited availability, low number of Google searches and low user ratings. Park Plaza Hotels and Resorts are found in the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Germany, Croatia, India, Thailand and China. The chain received 155,400 Google searches, the lowest number out of the chains looked at and has an average user rating of 3.6 out 5. 

Best Reviewed Hotel Chains in the World

  1. St Regis (Marriott International)
  2. JW Marriott
  3. Sheraton Hotels

St Regis Hotels and Resorts is the best hotel brand according to guest reviews. St Regis has an average rating of 5 out of 5 on all three review websites Bounce looked at. The Marriott-owned brand is known for its five-star status and service, which guests find at St Regis in Venice—one of its most impressive locations and St. Regis Chicago, the tallest hotel in the world.  

Worst Reviewed Hotel Chains in the World

  1. Econo Lodge
  2. Ramada 
  3. Wyndham Hotels

Econo Lodge received the lowest average user review score out of all the chains looked at. Users give the chain 2.3 out of 5 on average due to limited breakfast options and hidden resort fees. There are 779 Econo Lodge locations across North America, the largest being in Orlando, Florida. 

Most in Demand Hotel Chains in the World

  1. Holiday Inn
  2. DoubleTree
  3. Crowne Plaza

Holiday Inn is one of the most common hotel chains, operating 1,190 locations in 54 countries. It is also the most in-demand chain with 25,426,000 Google searches over the last 12 months.

Most Luxurious Hotel Chains in the World

  1. Four Seasons
  2. Ritz-Carlton
  3. St Regis 

Four Seasons is the most luxurious hotel chain in the world due to its high number of five-star locations. 101 Four Seasons locations have been rated five stars, including the Four Seasons in Prague and Toronto.
