4 Tropical Cocktail Recipes Straight From Mexico

These beach-approved cocktails are direct from menus at Mexico resorts, so you can at least drink like you’re on vacay.

Mezcalina, from JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa

Smoky, refreshing and tropical and straight from the resort’s 150 Margaritas Menu.

  • 1.5 oz Tequila (Tierra Noble Reposado recommended)
  • 1 oz Cointreau
  • 1 oz Mezcal
  • .5 oz Simple syrup
  • 1 oz Orange juice
  • .75 oz Lemon juice
  • Tajin seasoning for rim

Directions: Pour all ingredients in a shaker glass and muddle together. Add ice and shake. Line the glass rim with Tajin seasoning (if available). Pour ingredients into the glass, and garnish with an orange slice. Enjoy.

Piwiwi, from W Punta de Mita

Named after the local bird, this concoction is light and refreshing.

  • .75 oz Grapefruit juice
  • .5 oz Agave syrup
  • .5 oz Fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz Tequila blanco
  • .75 oz Ancho Reyes Liqueur
  • 1 Drop citrus bitter
  • Splash of soda water
  • Dried hibiscus leaves

Directions: In a shaker with ice, combine grapefruit juice, agave syrup, fresh lime juice, tequila blanco, Ancho Reyes liqueur, a few dried hibiscus leaves, and citrus bitters. Strain into a rocks glass with ice, top with soda water, and garnish with a grapefruit slice.

Beso Purpura (Purple Kiss), from Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa

One of the beachside property’s signature tequila cocktails for sipping.

  • Dash of agave syrup
  • 1.5 oz Tequila blanco
  • 1.5 oz Lemon juice
  • 5 pieces Blackberry
  • Rosemary leaves
  • Ice

Directions: Shake and pour into glass with ice and garnish with blackberry.

Basil Margarita, from JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa

Herbal and sweet and straight from the resort’s 150 Margaritas Menu.

  • 1.5 oz Tequila (Clase Noble Reposado recommended)
  • 1.5 oz Freshly squeezed mango
  • Basil leaves
  • 1 oz Lemon juice
  • 1 oz Grand Marnier

Directions: Pour all ingredients in a shaker glass and muddle together. Add ice and shake. Pour ingredients into a glass, and garnish with basil leaves. Enjoy.
