First of its Kind, Video Game-Themed Atari Hotel Opening in Phoenix

Phoenix will soon have an Atari video game-themed hotel.

Led by founder Shelly Murphy and partner Napoleon Smith III, the location will be developed by GSD Group and True North Studio, a leading Phoenix-based real estate developer, and designed by global architecture firm Gensler.

Locals may know Shelly Murphy from her DesTechAZ event and Steve Wozniak’s Woz Innovation Foundation, and Napoleon Smith III as the producer of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, as well as the Grand Prix of Scottsdale.

The design will bring together the history and future of gaming and pop culture-inspired entertainment with modern accommodations.

“Like Atari’s legacy in innovation, Atari Hotels is infusing synthetic reality into every aspect of the hotel, creating an immersive hospitality and gaming experience for our guests. From our  virtual interactive world to the physical locations,  every element of Atari Hotels will offer a unique and authentic experience for everyone.”

—Shelly Murphy, Managing Partner, GSD Group

A first-of-its-kind, the unique hospitality concept will feature unique, fully immersive experiences for all ages and gaming abilities, including the latest in VR and AR (Visual and Augmented Reality), with some even featuring state-of-the-art venues and studios to accommodate esports events. The full-service hotel will also feature arcade bars and fine dining outlets.

Additional hotels are being planned for Las Vegas, Denver, Chicago, Austin, Seattle, San Francisco and San Jose.
