In less than two weeks, and in response to the public health and economic impacts of Covid-19, the Grossman family came together to successfully raise over $156,000 in emergency funds for associates furloughed from the family-run business, Classic Hotels & Resorts, which has seven hotels across California and Arizona, including The Scott Resort & Spa and Arizona Grand Resort & Spa.

CH&R owners personally donated $100,000 – $50k as the initial seeding of the “Bringing Our Family Through The Storm” employee relief fund, followed by an additional $50k as a dollar-for-dollar match – a threshold which was met just over a week after the campaign launched.

In addition to the family’s combined $100k donation, more than 460 individuals, comprised of friends, family members, hotel neighbors, former guests and many of the company’s leaders, contributed to the campaign, which totaled an additional $56K.

“The outpouring of loving support for our impacted associates was overwhelming, and we couldn’t be more grateful.”

John Grossman, President

Last week, more than 980 CH&R associates began to receive dispersals from the fund, with checks ranging from $75 to $450 per employee, based upon length of service with the company and without respect to position. More than 980 employees were included in the recipient pool, including all hourly associates – whether currently working or not – and all managers currently on unpaid leave.
