Studio McGee Blends East Coast Elegance with Southwestern Warmth

Shea McGee and Studio McGee have unveiled their latest masterpiece, Valley Vistas, a ground-up residence set against the desert landscape of Queen Creek. Designed as a family’s primary home, the project blends traditional East Coast influences with the relaxed spirit of the Southwest, resulting in a refined, approachable retreat that reflects the family’s roots on both coasts.

The five-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bath home, complete with a private guest suite above the garage, balances scale with intimacy. A green-painted front door, a meaningful nod to the homeowners’ upbringing, welcomes guests into an interior defined by warmth and meticulous detail.

Architectural highlights include leaded glass panels in the entryway and kitchen, oversized arched French doors framing the breakfast nook, and a detailed shower enclosure in the primary bath. Each element showcases Studio McGee’s signature attention to proportion and craft.

The design process was deeply collaborative, responding directly to the family’s way of living. The kitchen centers on an island that invites connection, while a pass-through window reframes daily rhythm. Vintage dishes sourced from area shops add history and texture, while artwork and personal heirlooms, including a framed needlepoint from the homeowner’s grandmother, infuse the home with warmth and personality.

Led by husband-and-wife team Syd McGee, chief executive officer, and Shea McGee, chief creative officer, Studio McGee Inc. operates across both interior design and product development through its portfolio of brands, Studio McGee and McGee & Co. Founded in 2014 as an interior design firm, Studio McGee has since grown into a multi-disciplinary design house and content hub.

Valley Vistas ultimately tells a story of collaboration, balance, and personal expression. Against the backdrop of the Sonoran Desert, Studio McGee’s aesthetic converges with the family’s memories and lifestyle, creating a home that feels both grounded in tradition and effortlessly modern.
