Q & A: Trent Hancock of Camelot Homes

Let us introduce you to the Valley’s top design and build professionals. Today, let’s get to know Trent Hancock of Camelot Homes and learn about his favorite Arizona project, what inspires him and his biggest professional accomplishment.

How did you get started in the design/build industry?

With Camelot Homes being family-owned and operated, I have been around the business my entire life. However, I became fully involved three years ago.

What is your favorite project in Arizona?

My favorite Camelot Homes project is White Horse, the community that won the Golden Nugget Award for the nation’s Home of the Year. The charming and elegant home looks like a traditional hacienda on the outside, but opens up on the inside to expansive courtyards, patios and other outdoor living spaces that give it a resort feel. This home has been a personal passion project for our family and one that set a future precedent for the evolution of production housing.

What inspires you and your work?

I am inspired by being able to work with my family on a daily basis and to know that all the work we are doing is benefiting each other.

What is something timeless every home should have?

At Camelot, we believe that every home should have open great rooms for entertaining and a seamless blend of indoor and outdoor living. The use of large windows and open spaces in all Camelot Homes’ communities allows you to maintain a constant visual connection with your surroundings.

What is considered trendy in homes at this time?

The use of motorized pocket doors and stacking glass sliders are currently on trend, especially within the Camelot communities. Gray and white-toned finishes throughout the home are also something prospective homebuyers are looking for at this time.

What do you consider your biggest professional accomplishment?

My biggest professional accomplishment thus far has been taking over the sales and marketing department of Camelot Homes after three short years. It has been a huge step in my career with Camelot and every day I am striving to carry out the family’s formula for success: dedication to the customer with an uncompromising emphasis on unique architectural design, details and quality workmanship.

What advice do you have for young people or students hoping to pursue a design/build career?

Choose a company that genuinely cares about its employees and that conducts business with the utmost integrity, courtesy and respect.

What are you working on now?

We are currently in the pre-selling phase for our two new communities: The Villas at Seven Desert Mountain™ and Heirloom at Morrison Ranch. Camelot is also exploring new ways to use technology and virtual reality to enhance the design/build space.
