Lexus Reveals Future of Luxury at Pebble Beach

Pebble Beach, the Super Bowl of the automotive industry, where old classics and new innovations alike are put on display, many of the products and concepts being revealed to the public for the first time.  This year Lexus had something new to say when they unveiled the 2013 GS 350 at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

The statement being made with the new 2013 GS 350 is one concerning luxury and comfort.  In addition, it offers a prime example of how to design a comfortable luxury car that still offers an engaging driving experience with a strong sense of style.

“Today, buyers in the mid-size luxury segment want a more engaging driving experience, styling that makes a statement, and a roomier interior package,” said Mark Templin, Lexus group vice president and general manager. “With the all-new GS, we’re giving them what they asked for, and more.”

The 2013 GS also expresses a new generation of Lexus’ design philosophy with its precisely sculpted exterior and will lead the rest of the lineup in an entirely new direction. When designers shaped the GS they visualized the flow of air around it and maximized aerodynamic efficiency for class-leading coefficient of drag.  This is quite reminiscent of the fairly recently debuted Lexus LFA supercar, a feat of automotive engineering which, more than anything else, is distinctive for it’s mind blowing efficiency.
