In industry, as in life, we often have to pick one area of specialty and run with it, focus on that strength or passion, and often do this to the exclusion of other interests. We can always incorporate other ideas and and areas of endeavour into our projects, but we must know and capitalize on our strengths. Jaguar, with its unveiling of the Jaguar C-X16 concept vehicle, is demonstrating just that.
Debuting this past week at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Jaguar C-X16 is a compact ultra luxury high performance sports car, surprisingly rare in the luxury sports car arena. Jaguar calls the C-X16 a “design concept,” and there’s tremendous speculation that it will be built. The company has long promised a small sports car and is hinting the C-X16 could be it.
The Jaguar C-X16 draws attention not only because of its unique profile as a compact luxury sports concept, but also because it is a hybrid. Not an ultra efficient hybrid per say, but a hybrid none the less. Until now Elon Musk and his Tesla Motors outfit have been alone in the area of ultra luxury high performance eco/alternative fuel vehicles, and largely they still are, but the rest of the luxury wing of the industry is beginning to move with the flow of demand and progress, and is looking at alternative and more attractive ways of producing their luxury performance machines.
