Spring 2010 – Alexander Wang, Richard Chai, Christian Siriano

Yes dear hearts just as much as there are “It” girls there are “It” guys and no one is having more of a moment than Alexander Wang. His Spring 2010 collection debuted Friday to much ado about everything…. The fabrics, the shapes, the hair, the brows…..fashion editors from coast to coast are clamoring. I for one can’t gage in on just who will be wearing his ode- to- football shoulders but the silhouettes are fresh and innovative. (You can catch a few pieces from Fall 09 in AFM’s September fashion spread.) None the less what makes Alexander so great (pardon the pun luv) is that he is a particular kind of cool that one can’t really duplicate. There are those that are innately cool and there are those that try to always be cool…. He is the former and he does it effortlessly. Even the AW after party was held in of all places a gas station on the corner of 10th & 15th …. Love that! Check out a few pics from his ultra cool show, tossled braided hair with fresh faced models reminiscent of a young Brooke and his deconstructed sportswear collection.

Another particularly lovely sporty meets posh collection from Sunday was Richard Chai. There is nothing I love more than casual elegance with a rock and roll twist, check out the juxtaposition of these pieces and how they play perfectly together. This is definitely the Spring version of a biker chic moment. Normally, I much prefer the opulence of Fall to Spring but with looks like this I am craving a little bit of Chai!

And finally I am delightfully happy and my blackberry is delightfully happy after a barrage of fashionista twitters from those packed inside the venue like sardines that Christian Siriano’s show has finally come to fruition. One of my favs Polly O was at the helm of makeup which provided a surprising tone to the always wow Sirinao style. His collection was full of everything from elegant pleating to gathered flounces in shades of blue, blush, and khaki. Shortly after the show Tim Gunn gushed that the un hot-mess designer is this generations Marc Jacobs…astute as always…who can argue with Mr Gunn… not I.
