Paris Fashion Week Spring 2013 Reviews

Happy October 2nd! Yes, we are officially into the fall season and heading toward the Holidays. The weather is finally starting to cool down (at night) and yet, instead of finding myself wanting to wear the latest fall trends I am pining for the Paris Spring 2013 collections. Sometimes I wish I lived in Europe so that I could wear layers, tights, and scarves for more than what seems to be a handful of weeks.

One collection that has me itching for spring right now is Tom Ford. In black, white, and beige the Tom Ford models show us that being covered up in neutrals can be sexy. There is no doubt a hint of dominatrix happening with patent trench coats, and strap coiled legs via racy stilettos.

When there is no leather in sight, Ford takes negative space to a whole other level with this black, winged dress. The bottom of the sleeves attached to the bottom of the dress creates an awe-inspiring silhouette… like a modern sculpture.

Honeycomb body conscious dresses set a futuristic sexy Tron vibe. I wonder if any starlet will dare to don the risqué looks on the red carpet next year: Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Niki Minaj come to mind.

A favorite among young Hollywood, L’Wren Scott did not disappoint; she brought young, fresh, hip, chic to the trendy table. Giving us everything from amazing bold color to eye-popping pattern, lace, and embroidery. Scott may just have won over an entire generation of young women.

What twenty-something wouldn’t love to be caught in this saucy red number? The lacy turtleneck adds a mysterious sexiness.

This black and white look screams, “I love fashion!” (and probably more than you). A look like this is one no girl could pass up if she had the chance: classic, funky, and yet chic.

And then when it’s time to be serious and accept that Academy Award you wear this beautiful black gown. The lace back is stunning… Anne Hatahway maybe?

Perhaps L’ Wren Scott will not be the only popular designer among the fresh-faced youth of Hollywood. Heidi Slimane debuted his first collection for the Slimane-revamped Saint Laurent. We certainly got le smoking and bows, but we also got uber cool fringe leather jackets, leather pants, oversized sweaters, and a trove of maxi dresses.

Style.com’s Tim Blanks is convinced that Slimane’s inspiration comes from his infatuation with The City of Angeles, and we would be hard-pressed to disagree, certainly we can see the likes of Nicole Richie and Rachel Zoe sporting these looks on the streets of L.A.
