Paris Fashion Week RTW Reviews

Paris Fashion Week, the home of couture, swan-like models in sky-high heels, and as style.com put it, “fashion orthodoxy.” So, it is safe to say that no one saw it coming when Rick Owens displayed his Spring 2014 RTW collection on a lovely group of sneaker-wearing women from the U.S.

What is so shocking about that? Well, they also happen to be a competitive step team, who did just that, stepped their way down the runway to the shock, awe, and delight of the fashion savvy crowd.

Owens also took this opportunity to prove that women of all sizes can wear, look fabulous, and apparently move in designer clothing.

Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz also took an unorthodox approach this season. Models showed in an overwhelming display of lamé in all kinds of sugary colors–think the wrappers of your favorite candies.

Models carried handbags that might more appropriately be called sacks resembling mini trash bags and clutched as so.

If shocking and unexpected is not what you’re looking for then you’ll appreciate the Nina Ricci Spring collection: feminine and classic. You are sure to find your favorite spring dress in this collection.

And every woman needs a shirtdress in her wardrobe–a piece that will last for years and seasons to come.
