Cannes Film Festival -Red Carpet Hits and Misses

Yes, it is that glorious time of year when I can live vicariously through the stars at the Cannes Film Festival. If only I was soaking up that sea air and sipping a café au lait at the Hotel du Cap. But alas I am not. Instead, I will have to browse the glamorous photos from afar.

This year as with every other there was a parade of celebrities, from the European starlets trying to capture every bit of Foreign Press attention, to the heavy hitters making their way from premiere’s to dinners and parties around town.

We always know that there are going to be a few home runs when it comes to the red carpet and this time there were plenty. I still am not one hundred percent sure about Rachel McAdams Marchesa gown, Though I love the gown itself… and I think she looks gorgeous something still seems off, but it’s grand enough to be a top contender.

McAdams day two dress by Maxime Simoens looked fresh and sweet with a hint of sexy. Again a few strategically placed rosettes never hurt anyone.

I did however adore Uma Thurman’s white Versace from the autumn 2011 collection. It was sleek and chic with the perfect amount of feathers in the train to keep it looking luxe and not overdone. There was of course one or two unnerving almost- panty- flashing moments when Thurman one of the jury members this year was sitting on stage with Robert DeNiro… let’s just say, that slit was riding high.

And Salma Hayek kept it in the family wearing a beautiful Gucci gown (Her hubby owns PPR the company that owns Gucci). But I wasn’t as on board with the leather dress and bolero that she wore to the opening of Puss N Boots the film based on Antonio Banderas Shrek character. I love smoldering Antonio -I had the pleasure of doing his makeup and hanging with him all day a few years back and he lovingly referred to me as “Arisonna”. Let me say no one makes the name “Arizona” sound more sexy. He looks as handsome as ever…. But I thought he could have dressed up a tad more for the occasion…. Here’s where a conference call between A-List buddies Selma and Anotnio regarding the dress code comes in handy.

But Mr Banderas snapped out of it for the premiere of the Midnight in Paris movie and looked dashing as heck.
