Best Red Carpet Looks- CFDA Awards

The Council of Fashion Designers Awards took place on Monday evening in New York highlighting the best in established and emerging designers along with a chic and enviable red carpet . The CFDA Awards focuses on designers in the categories of womenswear, menswear and accessories. Aside from the Oscars and The Met Ball I would have to say that the CFDA turns out one of the most talked about and best red carpets showings of the year.

Award winners included -Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler who won the big award of the night for best design in womenswear. While Alexander Wang, who was nominated in three categories, took home the award for best accessory design. Swarovski’s awards for emerging talent went to Prabal Gurung for womenswear and Eddie Borgo for accessories. Phoebe Philo flew in to accept the International Award. Lady Gaga pushed the dress code while presented with the Fashion Icon Award, donning a studded thong and corset, while Marc Jacobs fans— he took home the Lifetime Achievement Award — enjoyed a montage of his career highpoints set to a nostalgic ’90s-heavy soundtrack.

Aside from the prizes, there were some truly spectacular looks. Below, some of our favorites ever! Of course there were plenty of other looks to swoon over…, but alas so many looks so little time!

Always elegant Supermodel Chanel Iman wore a gorgeous BCBGMAXAZRIA turquoise dress from the Resort 12 collection.

Model, Actress and newly minted fashion designer Liya Kebede donned a dreamy custom Derek Lam white and black halter dress from the S/S 12 collection.

Always fashionably hip yet restrained actress Kirsten Dunst wore a Patrik Ervell navyl twill tuxedo blazer with a hand painted silk lapel, silk georgette button collar shirt, and matching navy wool twill pants finished off with killer Prada heels and Bulgari jewels

Big Love actress, style muse and designer Chloe Sevigny wore a drop dead piece of her own design- Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony. It was a custom leather ruffle eyelet top, custom cotton eyelet pencil skirt, and black and white ankle-strap heels, all from the Resort 12 collection.

Swarovski Womenswear nominees Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen looked beautiful in vastly different styles. On Ashley a pastel blue dress and bag from The Row along with Manolo Blahnik kitten heel mules. While Mary Kate wore a Chanel jacket from the Pre-Fall 11 collection; with a skirt and bag both from The Row’s Resort 12 collection and Louis Vuitton heels.

Then the ridiculously flawless Victoria Secret uber girl Alessandra Ambrosio looked absolutely stunning in a Prabal Gurung vermillion silk crepe bias cut gown with a peek a boo back detail from the F/W 11 collection And a pair of sexy Nicholas Kirkwood by Prabal Gurung black satin sandals.
