Best Dressed – People’s Choice Awards

Most of the time I am pretty down on awards shows unless of course they are the big three, Oscars, Golden Globes and maybe the Grammy’s… but for some reason I was compelled to watch a bit of the People’s Choice Awards last night.

Since it’s the first awards show of the year, for style mavens it’s like the official kick of of the red carpet season. Though the show isn’t nearly as formal as other upcoming fashion moments, still a few stars brought their best looks for the occasion while others were simply a snooze fest.

I was a little let down by Jennifer Aniston’s Dolce & Gabbana black vest and pants, even though it was tailored perfectly I felt like it was something that one would wear to fancy lunch rather than an awards show. And there were far too many one shoulder mini dresses to even comment on… Plus, if you were judging solely by the show, half of the young Hollywood set it seems is of the opinion that fashion equals a strapless mini dress. And yes, I get it, if you’ve got it flaunt it, but for some adding another inch or two to the hemline would have translated into chic rather than just party girl (See Mila Kunis and Emma Roberts)

On the flip side there were a few stars that did just the right amount of dressy without going overboard.

I have to give it to Kim Kardashian, she did look good in her Malandrino dress, with a Rina Limor necklace, Christian Louboutin heels and a Chanel clutch. And she managed to look sophisticated by adding a chic updo.

And I thought a redheaded Khloe Kardashian also looked lovely in a taupe colored Alexander McQueen dress, Christian Louboutin heels, Amrapali earrings and a Judith Leiber clutch. Somehow the red hair gave her a fresh, fiery and flirty look that definitely set her apart from the rest of the K clan.

Emma Roberts has been a standout for quite some time on the red carpet and this event was no exception she kept it chic and classic in a Dior dress, Carla Amorim earrings, a Rina Limor ring, Brian Atwood heels and a Miu Miu clutch.

The newly solo Mila Kunis looked smashing in her paired down J Mendel dress and Brian Atwood pumps. She is certainly one to keep an eye on as her star power keeps skyrocketing. So far she has been flawless in her last few attempts.
