Best Dressed Golden Globes 2013

I had an amazing day yesterday doing make up for the Golden Globes. Awards shows like
these create quite the spectacle in all of the upscale hotels in Beverly Hills. Hotel
lobbies are packed with hordes of hair and makeup artist just waiting to be called to
their stars room. And then the fun begins hair, makeup and wardrobe stylist do their
thing to make Hollywood’s A list perfect for the red carpet.

I for one thought the red carpet last night was pretty amazing. Even when the dresses
were bad they were still pretty good and the really good dresses were just gorgeous!
Interestingly enough some of my favorites were showing up on the worst dressed list
elsewhere but I’m sticking with my picks.

I thought Anne Hathaway looked amazing in that white two piece beaded Chanel Couture.
Her short pixie hair was just perfect for the minimalist look of the dress.

And Jennifer Lawrence who took home the Globe last night for her performance in
Silver Linings Playbook wore an orange strapless Dior Haute’ Couture belted
perfectly with a silver belt. I think it’s hard to make Jennifer look bad
but the combination of her braided hair intoa bun her beautiful dramatic
eyes and that formfitting dress was just delightful. There were many
similar dresses with a retro bra fit cup but sadly even though I love
Jessica Alba’s orange strapless, the cups looked rumpled and did not
fair as well as Jennifer’s. That would’ve been a simple fix for her
stylist and I’m wondering why didn’t happen?

Naomi Watts looked amazing in an oxblood Zac Posen. And although she was basically
covered from head to toe complete with a train the backless detail was divine. Her
20s era hair waves were perfection with her pale porcelain skin that dramatic dress.

I have to also give a mention to Claire Danes who looks amazing every award
show, she wore a red Versace with just a hint of beading at the hip. Of
course her smokey eye makeup was flawless and her hair with cascading curls
looked every bit the sunny California girl.

Amy Adams also looked like a vision in Marchesa. The dress was a subtle champagne
color and fit her to a tee. Her hair was pulled back with 20’s style waves in the
front and it seemed to blend beautifully with her look.

My top favorite for the night with Kate Hudson in Alexander McQueen. That
black body skimming gown topped off with heavy gold beaded detail around
her neck and at the waist was amazing. And I love that she kept her makeup
and hair fresh and clean with glowing skin rather than trying to be too dramatic.
