’90s Supermodels Made a Comeback on the Versace Runway

Donatella Versace dedicated Versace’s Spring 2018 collection in honor of her late brother and former Versace designer, Gianni, on the 20th anniversary of his passing. While the collection stayed true to the Versace ethos of high voltage glamour, it was the closing of the show that made it one for the fashion history books.

After a cascade of animal prints and body-hugging leather, a curtain pulled back to reveal five of the original supermodels of the ’90s who defined the era, including Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Carla Bruni, and Helena Christensen clothed in dramatic gold lamé dresses.

The iconic supermodels walked the catwalk linking arms and holding hands, reminiscent of Gianni’s 1991 fall show where Linda, Chrisy, Naomi and Cindy walked arm-in-arm down the runway lip-synching George Michael’s “Freedom! ‘90”.

And of course, the modern day rendition was all captured on Instagram! Check out the best ‘grams from the historic moment below —
