5 Ways to Wear Rock Chic

As a kid I had the privilege of being surrounding by all kinds of music, from Elvis to Led Zeppelin and later bands like The Pretenders or Blondie. I suppose the rock images have stuck with me to this day and whatever trends come around I always find my way back to the rebellious rock girl aesthetic..

I know this look is not for everyone and for some quite frankly anything other than a curve hugging dress might seem unfeminine but I say carpe diem… seize the day, seize the season and seize the opportunity to flaunt this look while you can.

But, thankfully, Net A Porter gets it, they get me, and they know that if it’s your thing, nothing says cool girl like a slick pair of leather pants, or a killer jacket. This season there are plenty of options to bring out the chic rocker in you.

So if you want to channel your own Joan Jett gone glam here are a few things you might want to put on your wish list.

Grown up graphic tee – Balmain did super cool tees that skim the body without looking too sloppy. But if you are not into wearing your drawings on your sleeve T by Alexander Wang makes slinky sexy shirts that can be dressed up or down to suit your mood.

Skinny leathers – Yes I know we are finally at the dawn of Spring which means that extreme mercury is right around the corner, but don’t let that stop you from indulging in a bit of uber sleek leather right now- whether it’s a slim pair of pants like these from Mason by Michelle Mason, leggy shorts by Joseph, a snug fitting tank also by Joseph or a skinny mini dress by Theyskins.

Add to that classic skyscraper pumps in shiny black, white or tan (the kind we wore in the 80’s) like these by Christian Louboutin. Or a pair of ankle boots that wreak of film noir sexiness. I adore these by Raphael.

And don’t underestimate the power of a great fitting blazer like this one from Theory in a neutral shade that can pair with the above tee’s or an unexpected bottom like these slouchy harem style trousers by Balmain.

Of course any chunky piece of metal jewelry will finish the look especially a chain link necklace by Irit Design
