2012 Cannes Film Festival Best Dressed

If you watched the Met Gala red carpet live last week or even just read our coverage on it then you know that the fashion, though nice, was kind of boring. So, when I started seeing the images from the Cannes Film Festival, which is in its 65th year, I wanted to jump up and shout with excitement. Perhaps it is the location that made everyone step up their game, or maybe they all just need a vacation in a faraway place, but whatever it was I am ecstatic.

Here are the favorites.

Diane Krueger in this sea foam green Giambattista Valli Couture dress is perfect for the seaside location. And the way the dress sails behind her is, honestly, unreal. Can I please be her when I grow up?

Jessica Chastain is obviously a huge fan of Alexander McQueen, but who wouldn’t be when the dresses appear to be made just for your body. Though simple, and as many have said not-so-McQueen, there is something refreshing and indeed young about the pale pink gown.

Eva Herzigova in custom Dolce & Gabbana  may very well be my absolute favorite so far. Talk about Hollywood Glamour! Everything from her hair, makeup, jewelry (which is reportedly inspired by Marilyn Monroe), to the clutch is perfection.

Fan Bingbing pulled out all the stops on more than one occasion. My two favorite looks are her neutral Elie Saab Couture dress and the quite opposite and colorful Christopher Bu gown.

There is no way we could make a list without Eva Longoria’s Marchesa masterpiece. The fully embroidered, backless gown, with a lengthy tulle train screams fashion and is no doubt the envy of many a fashionista… I’m positive fussing with that train was worth it.

Marion Cottilard is probably number 2 on my personal list in Dior Couture. The black sweetheart bodice and full navy skirt are classic, and the wide belt lends it a humble appeal.

Diane Krueger killed it at just about every event she attended, but I particularly like this bright beauty paired with white sandals and no fuss pony.

Also obsessed with Marion’s Dior day look. The pleated and draped nude/Peach dress paired with an eye-catching gold belt and bright heels is tres chic.

Dolores Chaplin made my list for looking gorgeous and for wearing a Dolce & Gabbana vegetable dress–eggplant to be exact. I don’t think anyone can make it look as effortless and comfortable as she does.
