Vestar Moves Forward with Plans for Laveen Towne Center

Vestar, one of the largest privately held retail real estate companies in the western United States, has announced that it is moving forward with plans to develop the highly anticipated Laveen Towne Center. The announcement comes on the heels of the project’s approval by the Village Planning Committee, marking a significant milestone for the growing community of Laveen.

The new open-air shopping center will be located on a 90-acre site and is scheduled to break ground in summer 2026. Its grand opening is targeted for the winter of 2027. Once completed, the center is expected to bring shopping, dining, and entertainment options to the area.

“We’re incredibly excited to bring this long-awaited project to the Laveen community,” Vestar President and CEO David Larcher said. “Our goal is to create places that become the fabric of the communities we serve, where people gather, connect and make memories.”

With a strong emphasis on community integration, Vestar is taking steps to ensure that the design and programming of Laveen Towne Center reflect the charm of the area. The development will incorporate existing materials and site-specific features, including elements from the historic Hudson Farmhouse. Informational plaques will be installed to educate visitors about the history of the site and the Laveen area.

Architectural plans for the center draw inspiration from Laveen’s agrarian roots, with building designs that pay homage to the region’s heritage. A key feature will be the Laveen Village Green, a landscaped space designed to host events, outdoor entertainment, and public gatherings year-round.

The center will include shaded storefronts and pedestrian-friendly walkways. As part of the project, Vestar is undertaking roadway improvements to Dobbins Road and 59th Avenue, including the construction of full-width, city-standard streets to better accommodate increased traffic and enhance accessibility.

Laveen Towne Center represents one of five ground-up developments that Vestar has brought to the Phoenix area since 2020. The company currently has an additional 1.5 million square feet of new projects in pre-development, all expected to be completed by 2031. For more information, visit vestar.com.
