Designed by legendary golf architect Jason Straka, the $10 million Ambiente golf course replaces the Indian Bend golf course at Camelback Golf Club and has combined with the Padre Course to establish a unique 36-hole southwestern golf destination. Undulating elevation changes with rolling fairways, a par-72 layout and five tee box sets present a distinct and enjoyable challenge for any player, whether pro or beginner.

Ambiente, meaning “environment” in Spanish,” also boasts a 50 percent decrease in pesticide and fossil fuel use and has replaced more than 100 acres of turf grass with native desert terrain of acacias, jojobas, sagebrush and seasonal wildflowers.

“While Ambiente is sure to distract golfers with its natural beauty and breathtaking views of Mummy Mountain, Camelback, the McDowells and the Phoenix Mountain Preserve, our golfing guests will find a friendly test of skill and shot-making that will redefine the golf experience at a resort long known for its exceptional service, palette pleasing food, luxurious accommodations and spirit of adventure,” said Jim Rose, general manager at the JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa.

Ambiente completes a seven-year, $70 million renewal project at Camelback Inn that aims to revive the resort’s storied past, while setting a visionary course for its future.

Other developments to the 125-acre Camelback Inn included preserving the resort’s 1930s adobe brick, renovating its 453 casita-style guest rooms, installing a new 20,000-square-foot high-tech grand ballroom and opening a new restaurant called BLT Steak.

Ambiente has already garnered national attention by being recognized in the 2013 Design Excellence Recognition Program by the American Society of Golf Course Architects for its unique design challenge and its social, economic and environmental improvements.
