This past weekend, the team at 3TV ran a segment highlighting the summer offerings at Lake Pleasant and Scorpion Bay Marina. Yet despite over 10,000 acres of water surface and 116 miles of scenic shoreline, all eyes were on Out of the Blue Excursions, an immaculate 73-foot Skipperliner that recently started making waves on the lake’s placid waters. The buzz surrounding this new venture has been building and on May 27, ticket sales for its signature day and evening cruises will be available to the public.

What used to be a gaudy pink and turquoise hull is now the epitome of luxury. The vessel, which easily accommodates 75 passengers, boasts a modern interior rivaling that of most residential homes, complete with a fully-equipped kitchen, plush sleeping quarters and nautical décor. The upper deck, accessible by one of two spiral staircases and adorned with navy upholstery, offers panoramic views of the surrounding desert landscape and at dusk, brilliant technicolor sunsets.

The real star of this operation, however, is a 28 x 32-foot mega yacht party pool. Designed exclusively for Out of the Blue Excursions, the pool is the only one of its kind in the United States – toys of this scale are typically reserved for international multi-million dollar yachts. It’s essentially a giant floating deck, meant to add a unique twist to the average day on the lake while keeping swimmers safe and contained.

In the past, owner Susie Alofs used the boat for wedding receptions and private parties, but shifted her focus after recognizing the lack of upscale options for locals and out-of-town visitors. “This used to be my personal boat,” she says. “But when I started getting calls from destination management companies and hotels asking to rent it out, I realized I had something really special on my hands – something I wanted everyone to have the chance to experience.”

In addition to private dinner cruises, Out of the Blue is kicking off the summer with two unparalleled excursions. Early birds and fitness lovers will flock to Yoga on the Water, an out-of-body experience featuring two hours of peaceful cruising and an expert-led, all-levels flow class around the deck of the pool.

For those looking to explore the lake in its entirety, Fun in the Sun includes a pit stop at Scorpion Bay Marina Grill for cocktails and an afternoon jam-packed with ample use of the party pool. Both cruises feature fresh, seasonal catering from Osio Culinary Group’s newest eatery, Kale & Clover.

Concierges from the Valley’s ritziest resorts and hotels are already on board, eagerly steering guests towards Lake Pleasant for this unique experience. “The timing couldn’t be more perfect,” says Claudia Powell, Vice President of Valley of the Sun Concierge Network. “Our outdoor options dwindle in the summer and Out of the Blue Excursions gives our guests a luxurious way to escape the heat. It’s truly one-of-a-kind.”
