Phoenix Suns Throwback With New Uniforms

The Phoenix Suns have ushered in a new era with the reveal of their revamped uniforms for the upcoming 2023–24 NBA season. These jerseys not only pay homage to the team’s roots but also embrace a contemporary design that puts a fresh spin on the iconic sunburst uniform from the early ’90s.

This exciting change coincides with a shift in team ownership and a renewed determination to clinch their first championship title. The presence of key players, such as Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton, further fuels the high expectations surrounding the Suns for the 2023–24 season.

The uniforms come in two distinct editions: the Association Edition (white) and the Nike Icon (purple) sets. They skillfully incorporate design elements from the previously introduced Icon and Association uniforms of 2017, creating a harmonious blend of nostalgia and modernity.

According to a press release, the new Icon and Association Edition uniforms capture the spirit of the popular ’90s sunburst uniforms while embracing a fresh, contemporary aesthetic as the franchise sets its sights on new horizons and the pursuit of its first championship.

The uniforms were developed based on fans’ preferences in mind. The team surveyed fans on previous uniforms and the rising sunburst design ranked the highest among fan feedback.

The new design was crafted by Centercourt studios, the in-house creative department of the Phoenix Suns, and in partnership with Nike.

“The sunburst is an iconic design that is one of the most popular among Suns fans; it represents some of the most defining moments in our team’s history,” says Phoenix Suns CEO Josh Bartelstein. “These new uniforms seamlessly blend the nostalgia of the past with the excitement of the future as we begin the next great era of Suns basketball.”

Suns guard Devin Booker teased the new uniforms last month on social media.

The new jerseys were also created in partnership with PayPal, the Official Payments Partner of the Phoenix Suns. PayPal became the team’s first jersey sponsor in 2018 and has announced a significant partnership extension through the 2026 NBA season. Focused on innovation, enhancing fan experiences, and supporting local businesses and the Valley community, PayPal’s logo is elegantly displayed alongside the Nike swoosh on the upper left shoulder of the jerseys.

The new jerseys feature a streaking sunburst with an embroidered Suns wordmark above stitched drop shadow numbers. The shorts feature an asymmetrical design with the Phoenix wordmark and a continuation of the jersey’s streaking pattern. The Suns’s primary icon logo is centered on the beltline.

The Icon and Association Edition uniforms will join the team’s uniform rotation for future seasons, and for the 2023–24 season they will join the all-black Statement uniform introduced last season and an unreleased City Edition uniform that comes out later this year.

Fans can enter for a chance to win a jersey through a virtual jersey toss sponsored by PayPal on the Suns’s website, app or social media channels. Learn more here.

The uniforms are now available for purchase at the Team Shop at Footprint Center, open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Sunday and at Shop.Suns.com
